Each of these communities have a revitalization plan in place and by participating in this challenge you can help demonstrate how important it is to provide safe, friendly and accessible places. When it comes to access and inclusion—everyone wins!
1. Form a team of at least two people. Your team can be made up of family, friends, neighbors, church members, coworkers, etc.
2. Register your team HERE.
3. Download the Wheelmap app on your smart phone or mobile device. See this link for Wheelmap directions for how to use this app and collect your data.
4. Show up on October 20th or November 11th for the challenge! Be prepared to travel through your neighborhood on foot using the Wheelmap app to collect data on as many locations as possible. The challenge should take you about 4 hours to complete.
5. Once you are finished, have one person from your team complete and submit the finisher form or call 800-900-8086 to provide your final data.
All neighborhoods that register at least 10 people and assess the businesses in their community using the Wheelmap app on either October 20th or November 11th will win $500 for their neighborhood.
Anyone who posts using the #BhamAccessChallenge on October 20th or November 11th on Instagram or Twitter with a public account will be entered into a random drawing for a $100 visa gift card!
The team that assesses that most businesses will receive a tailgate party pack valued at up to $350.
Two $25 gift cards to a local business will be given through a Facebook Like, Share, Comment contest on the @UABIHR page.
